Champions Crowned!

A difficult Winter Session finally came to a much needed end with Championship Sunday in Upton. 

Semi Final 1
Millennium Realty 71, New England Nutrition 68
Millennium held on in a well contested semi final. Brandon Jones (30 points) lead Millennium's attack inside and out with his rhythm shooting and aggressive play on the offensive boards, while Junior De La Hoz posted 25 point of his own. New England was paced early by Colin London (13), Colin Carr (9) and Terrell Newton (10) but got a huge lift in the second half from Captain Tom Casey who hit 5 threes (many well contested) on the way to a 17 point outburst. Millennium advanced to the finals later in the night.

Semi Final 2:
Wet Bandits 80, 2k Ballas 67
The Wet Bandits balanced attack was paced by Jakyri Simpson (17 points) and Mo Horton 14 points as they coasted to a victory in the 2nd semi final. The Ballas got some offense from Kyle Minton (24 points) and Cody Stone with 10 and will be a team to watch come summer session.

The Wet Bandits complete an undefeated session and claim the BVBL Winter Championship! The strong play of Playoff MVP Jakyri Simpson (14 points) and Joe Laroche (13) lead them to victory while League MVP Mo Horton (12) did damage with his passing. Millennium was paced by Lloyd Kennedy with 12 and Junior De La Hoz with 12. Congrats to the Bandits! The Champs!

Cody Stone's 21 points lead the Ballas to their 4th straight victory. Matt Bixby added 9 and Deco Anderson chipped in 12 in the victory. Kareem's squad concludes their season at 1-6 and was lead by Doug Roberge with 20 and Tim Paulus with 16.

Wet Bandits 59, Millennium Realty 58
Mo Horton (10 points) burried a step back 3 as time expired to give the Wet Bandits a 1 point victory in the 7 PM game. They lock up the #1 seed for the playoffs. Mike Dzcizeck had 17 in the win and Jakyri Simpson added 11. The MR team was paced by Brandon Jones with 18 points and Ryan Cain with 13. They will have the #2 seed.

Run N Gun 67, Brass Bonanza 58
Evan Learner and Jeremy Bacon paced the offense for Run N Gun and Jan Fuentes made his presense felt inside. The Bonanza was paced by Brett Corey and Jay Williams in the loss.
Neither team will be continuing on to the playoffs.

New England Nutrition 70, Jamokes 64
Terrell Newton had 22 and Tony Berrecil added 15 in his return as NEN claims the #3 seed. Colin London added 11 for the NEN. Mike Perrault (27 points) paced The Jamokes as they fall out of the playoffs. Jimmy Setterlund added 10

Run N Gun posts their first win behind the scoring of Evan Learner (18 points) and Aaron Anniballi (10 points) the Jaballers were propelled by 27 from Doug Roberge and 10 from Nick Burnett. The Jaballers will conclude their season next week against 2K Ballas while Run N Gun will tangle with the Brass Bonanza. 

Wet Bandits 108, Jamokes 86
Mo Horton broke the league single game scoring with 52 points (previous record) 51 in a commanding offensive performance for the Bandits. Utilizing deep contested 3s and strong drives Mo scored at will. Lost in the shuffle was Kevin Powers for the Jamokes posting 38 points in the defeat. Mike Perrault added 13. Mike Dzciek chipped in 18 for the Bandits who will face Milennium next week in the battle for 1 seed. Meanwhile the Jamokes will face New England Nutrition.

2k Ballas 57, Brass Bonanza 54
Brett Corey (19 points) kept the Bonanza afloat but Deco Anderson (16 points) Cody Stone (15 points) and Matt Bixby (14 points) propelled the Ballas to the victory. The Bonanza also got contributions from Steve Callahan with 13 and Jay McKinney with 14 in the loss. They will face Run N Gun next week while The Ballas will fight for the playoffs against the Jaballers. 

Millennium Realty 71, New England Nutrition 67
Terrell Newton (17) and Colin London (16) got New England Nutrition out to a fast start- and Quincy Nunnally and Colin Carr helped them with (12 each). Tom Casey rounded out the balanced attack with 10- however Millennium made plays down the stretch lead by Brandon Jones (20 points). Ryan Cain chipped in 15 and Junior De La Hoz controlled the game in the second half to pull away late. NEN will face Jamokes next week, while Millennium will face the Bandits in a battle of the unbeatens. 

Player of the Week: Mo Horton, Wet Bandits 52 points to break the league record is worthy of player of the week. Not much possible argument there!

Wet Bandits 67, New England Nutrition 58
The Wet Bandits got out to a fast start behind Jakyiri Simpson (14 points), but New England Nutrition stormed back behind the play of Quincy Nunnally (19 points) and the slashing of Colin London (14 points). In the end however the inside out game of Joe Laroche (17 points) and Mo Horton (15 points) carried the Wet Bandits to their 5th win. They will return to action next week against the Jamokes, while NEN will see Millennium Realty. 

2K Ballas 90, Run N Gun 78
Run N Gun was paced by Colin Richey with 32 points and Joey Mespelli with 20. The 2K Ballas however had a little too much firepower as Deco Anderson (24 points) and Matt Bixby (22 points) lead them to their second straight victory and into the thick of the playoff chase. Cody Stone chipped in 15 for 2K. 2K will play Brass Bonanza next week, while Run N Gun will play The Jaballers. 

Kareem Abdul Jaballers 58, Brass Bonanza 55
The Jaballers posted their first win behind 21 points from Doug Roberge and 10 from Nick Burnett as well as 10 from Ken Paulus. Brass Bonanza was paced by Zach Valliere with 21 points and Jay McKinney with 14. Bonanza will play the 2K Ballas next week, while The Jaballers will meet Run N Gun.

Millennium Realty 102, Jamokes 67
Kevin Powers (22) and Mike Perrault (14) kept the Jamokes in it early. However it was opened up in the second half by Millennium Realty behind Brandon Jones (18 points), Ryan Cain (24 points) and Lloyd Kennedy (31 points) . Millennium will face New England Nutrition next week while the Jamokes will play The Wet Bandits

Player of the week: Deco Anderson 2K Ballas 24 points in a hotly contested game- was the difference maker inside.

Quincy Nunnally paced New England Nutrition with 20 points and Terrell Newton and Tom Casey added 11 each as New England Nutrition won a well contested game. Doug Robegre (15) and Nick Burnett (16) lead the charge for the Jaballers.  NEN will return to action next week against the Wet Bandits while, The Jaballers will tangle with Brass Bonanza

2k Ballas 69, Jamokes 63
A back and forth battle- the 2k team was paced by Cody Stone with 19 and Matt Bixby with 12. Deco Anderson also chipped in 12. The Jamokes were lead by the outside-in tandem of Mike Perrault (19) and Kevin Powers (16). The Jamokes will return to action next week against Millennium Realty while the 2K Ballas will face off with Run N Gun.

Millennium Realty 101, Run N Gun 52
Brandon Jones (22 points) and Lloyd Kennedy (22 points) paced Millennium Realty as they cruised to their 4th straight win. Run N Gun was paced by the steady floor play of Chris Demers and the offense of Steve Callahan (19 points). Millennium will face the Jamokes next week, while Run N Gun will tangle with the 2K Ballas.

Wet Bandits 89, Brass Bonanza 83
Game of the night by far. Brass Bonanza had a huge upset bid behind the scoring of Zach Valliere (21 points) and Brett Corey (17 points), the Wet Bandits were lead early by Jakayri Simpson (17 points), but late it was all Mo Horton (38 points) who scored on the Bandits last 4 possessions to secure the win. The Bandits will face NEN next week, while Bonanza will take The Jaballers.

Player of the week: Mo Horton Wet Bandits 38 points including 10 clutch points down the stretch to secure the win.

Julio Maldanado (11 points) and Matt Bixby (10 points) played well for 2K but the Millennium Realty machine was firing on all cylinders. Ryan Cain (28 points) and Lloyd Kennedy (35 points) lead the way for Millennium with Brandon Jones adding 22 in the victory. 2K will face the Jamokes next week, as Millennium will tangle with Run N Gun

Wet Bandits 73, Kareem Abdul Jaballers 72 (OT)
Dave Douilette (17 points) paced The Bandits and hit 3 free throws to force overtime to over come the surging Jaballers. Doug Roberge had 18 in the loss and Mike Shuttlesworth had 20. The Jabllers will take on NEN next week, while The Bandits will face the Brass Bonanza. 

Player of the week: Ryan Cain, Millennium Realty Scored 28 points and had at least double digit assists as the Realty squad downed the 2K Ballers

New England Nutrition utilized their balanced approach to post their 2nd win on the young session. New acquisition Quincy Nunnelly lead the squad with 15, while Terrell Newton (14) and Tom Casey (9) chipped in. NEN will face Brass Bonanza in week 3 while Run N Gun who was paced by Charles Horton (16 points) will take on The Jamokes. Ryan Cain (21 points) and Lloyd Kennedy (11) provided an inside out duo and the floor play of Mitch Bajema and Junior De La Hoz lead Millennium to their second win. The Jaballers were lead by Doug Roberge with 21. The Jaballers will tangle with the Wet Bandits. Millennium will face the 2K Ballas. 

Jamokes 62 Brass Bonanza 60
Easily the game of the night- with both teams running with only 5 players in an iron man showdown this one game down to the last possession. Bonanza started hot behind the scoring of Ernie Bertulli (18 points)- but The Jamokes would come back lead by Mike Perrault (23 points). Brian Whittin (14) carried the Bonanza in the second half but the inside out play of Kevin Powers (16 points) carried the day for the Jamokes. The 2-0 Jamokes will face Run N Gun next week while The Bonanza will play New England Nutrition and hopefully have more than 5 guys.

Wet Bandits 74, 2K Ballas 52
Maurice Horton (18 points) and Dave Douiliette (16 points) paced The Bandits in their second victory. The Ballas got scoring (22 points) from Eric Minton and solid guard play from Juan Maldando. The Ballas will face Millennium next week- while the Bandits will see the Kareem Abdul Jaballers.

Player of the week: Mike Perrault Jamokes His outside shooting opened up a close game and foiled an upset attempt at the hands of the Bonanza.

New England Nutrition starts the young campaign at 1-0. Terrell Newton (18 points) and Tom Casey (16 points) lead the way. While Colin London (12 points) and Tony Berrecil (11 points) chipped in as well. 2K was paced by Julio Maldanado with 17 and Cody Stone with 13. NEN will return to action next time against Run N Gun while 2K will face the Wet Bandits.

Wet Bandits 63, Run N Gun 45
Dave Douiliette (17 points) was the lone Bandit in double figures as they used superlative balance to out run Run N Gun. Mo Horton added 8 and Joe Laroche 9 in the victory. Run N Gun was paced by Zach Patchen with 10 points and Harley Patchen with 8.  The Bandits will take on the 2K Ballas next time, while Run N Gun will see NEN.

Millennium Realty 80, Brass Bonanza 54
Ryan Cain (22 points) and Lloyd Kennedy (15) piloted Millennium Realty to a victory. Keenan Burke-Pitts added 11 in the win. Brass Bonanza was paced by Jeff Robinson with 17 points and Ernie Bertulli with 12. Brass Bonanza will take on the Jamokes. While Millennium Realty will tangle with The Kareem Abdul Jaballers.

Jamokes 72, Kareem Abdul Jaballers 59
Despite 22 from Doug Roberge and 12 from Tim Fitzgerald. The Kareem Abdul Jaballers fell to the Jamokes. The Jamokes were paced by Jimmy Setterlund with 20 points and Mike Perrault with 20. Kevin Powers kicked in 16. The Jamokes will play Brass Bonanza next time, while the Ballers will take on Millennium Realty.

El Equipo!

El Equipo 69, Vin Baker's Dozen 66

An incredible back and forth game culminated with Dwayne "Pop" Powell burying a three from the right wing as time expired to clinch the championship for El Equipo. This was the end of a great nip and tuck game that saw a 34-34 halftime score and even play throughout the second half. Mo Horton (21 points) lead the charge for El Equipo with (finals and playoff MVP) Junior De La Hoz adding 21 on 7 three pointers. They needed everyone of those points to offset Jeff Robinson's (25 points) offense. Chris Pinsonault chipped in 11 for the victors. Dan Koen wins his second BVBL Championship (won last year's fall league with The Gut) the other members of El Equipo were first time champs. They are (pictured above left to right Dan Koen, Chris Pinsonault, Dan Sweitzer, Junior De La Hoz, Mo Horton and Pop Powell). This culminates a successful Winter Session as we prepare for summer ball, the grandaddy of them all!
