El Equipo jumped out behind a balanced attack of Mo Horton (21 points), Junior De La Hoz (21 points), Chris Pinsonault (15 points), and Pop Powell (16 points) and never looked back. The Birdmen were paced in defeat by Sam Fanfan with 22 points and Dominique Bryant with 17. The Birdmen finish their season at 3-5, El Equipo advanced the semi finals later in the night.

The 2.0 Boys jumped out to a 18-2 lead but a heroic effort by Ben McAuliffe (21 points) and Mike Perrault (15 points) gave the Horsemen a 4 point lead. The 2.0 Boys wore down the Horsemen in the second half behind Matt Bixby's 16 points and Anthony McDonald's 13. The 2.0 Boys advanced to the night's semifinals while The Horseman concluded their campaign at 4-4.

An El Equipo avalanche opened up a 3 poitn halftime lead into a 38 point victory. Junior De La Hoz posted 25 points, Dan Koen added 22, Mo Horton 17 in the victory. Zach Valliere added 14 in the defeat while Jay McKinney had 13. The Blazers end the session at 5-3 while El Equipo advances to next week's Championship Game.

The 2.0 Boys erased a 2 point halftime deficit to take a momentary lead, but Vin Baker's Dozen finally got on track offensively and came away with a 13 point victory. Jeff Robinson had 21 points, Ryan Cain also had 21 in the victory. Anthony McDonald had 16 in the loss. The 2.0 Boys finish the year at 5-4, while Vin Baker's Dozen will advance to the finals to face the El Equipo juggernaut.

For the 6 spot there was a 3 way tie with Birdmen, Up-a-ton and Yambags. Yambags beat Up-A-Ton, Birdmen lost to Up-A-Ton, Yambags beat Up-A-Ton. Yambags and Birdmen did not play... Strength of schedule was the next criteria and the other was wins over playoff teams. Birdmen won both of those,

Blazers 87, Birdmen 78
The Birdmen jumped out an eary 10 point lead behind the play of Nefali Gonzalez (23 points). However the Blazers would go on a 28-6 run to expand their lead to 20 at the half behind Jeff Kozik (18 points), Rob Elliot (17 points) and Zack Valliere (15 points). The Birdmen would rally in the second half getting it as close as 7 behind Sam Fanfan (27 points). But everytime the Birdmen would make a move Jay McKinney (25 points) would have an answer. With the win the Blazers get the #2 seed in next week's playoffs while the Birdmen would have to sweat out tiebreakers eventually garnering the 6 seed.

Vin Baker's Dozen 71, Run N Gun 58
Harley Patchen (23 points) and Matt Dcziek (12 points) lead the Run N Gunners on a few runs, but there was too much Jeff Robinson (26 points), Keenan Burke-Pitts (20 points) and Ryan Cain (18 points) on this day. Run N Gun concludes their season at 2-5, Vin Baker's Dozen (6-1) locks up the #1 seed.

El Equipo 117, Swag 80
Tons of defense in this one. Swag concludes their 0-7 season gamely behind the play of Antonio Becceril with 29 points and Antonio Becceril (related) with 23. Brian Whitten added 13. For El Equipo Mo Horton lead the way with 32, Junior de La Hoz added 23 and Danny Koen tossed in 22. Dan Sweitzer also had 13 for the victors who at 5-2 lock up the 3 seed.

2.0 Boys 82, Horsemen 59
The depleted Horsemen were lead by Mike Perrault with 19 points. Brett Corey added 16 and Brian Wilson had 16. The 2.0 Boys were lead by Andre Machado with 20, Deco Anderson with 17 and Matt Bixby with 17. 2.0 Boys are winners of 4 straight and will be the 4 seed in next week's playoffs where they will face #5 Horsemen in a rematch of this week's game.

Slammin Yambags 74, Up-A-Ton 66
Playing only for pride the Slammin Yambags denied Up-A-Ton a playoff birth with a 74-66 victory. The Yams were lead by Nick Diblasi with 19 points, while Jim Quinilven tossed in 15 and Mike Consolmango added 12. Up-A-Ton was paced by the return of Rob Scarpato with 26 points, while Erni Bertulli had 16 and Lloyd Kennedy had 10 in the loss. Up-A-Ton concludes the year at 3-4 while The Bags end up 3-4 as well.

Player of the week: Jay McKinney Blazers had a big 25 in a hotly contested game.

Up-A-Ton 76, Birdmen 50
Using superlative offensive balance and the 3-ball as their primary weapons. Up-A-Ton ended their 3 game losing steak with a victory over the Birdmen. Ernie Bertulli (15 points), Colin Carr (13 points), Dan Bessa (13 points), Lloyd Kennedy (10 points) and TJ Swole (10 points) were all in double figures while Will McCoy gave them sturdy floor play at the point. The Birdmen were paced by Nefali Gonzalez with 15 points and Niko Bryant with 13 while Jeremy Bridge added 12. The Birdmen will face the Blazers next week, and Up-A-Ton will tangle with the slamming Yambags in games with huge playoff implications.

Horsemen 66, Run N Gun 61
Despite the long distance dialing of Zach Patchen (21 points) and the versatile scoring of Harley Patchen (18 points) Run N Gun dropped another close one, this time to the Horsemen. Mike Perrault had 19 in the victory for the Horsemen, while Shane Trudell added 17, Zach Brown had his customary 15 in the W. The Horsemen will play the 2.0 Boys next week, while Run N Gun will face the league leading Vin Baker's Dozen.

El Equipo 95, Slammin Yambags 85
Mo Horton (not Burncoat class of '95 as he was asked by the ref) had 21 for El Equipo, he was joined in double figures by Chris Pinsonault with 15, Dan Koen with 15, Joe Barillo with 14, and Junior De La Hoz who had 12 and threw an around the back pass into a garbage can, which was pretty crazy. The 'Bags were lead in defeat by Mike Dzciek with 23 points, while Nick Diblasi added 16 and Mike O'Leary poured in 16 as well. El Equipo is now 4-2 and will play Swag next week, while The Yambags are 2-4 and will meet with Up-A-Ton (ps. the yambags are 1-4 since changing their name).

2.0 Boys 99, Swag 70
Antonio Becerril acquitted himself well in his BVBL debut with 25 points in defeat for Swag while Brian Collins tossed in 20 in the loss. 2.0 was lead by Jim Donnelly who abandoned his normal distributor role and tossed in 41 points (which is this season's single game high). Deco Anderson (an impressive dresser) added 18, while Matt Davis added 14. 2.0 Boys are winners of 3 straight and will take on The Horsemen next week with their playoff lives at stake. Swag will complete their season against El Equipo.

Player of the week: Jim Donelly 2.0 Boys, 41 points is 41 points. POTW honors are awarded.

2.0 Boys 74, Run N Gun 73
It was a wild one in the early game! The 2.0 Boys jumped out to a 41-34 halftime lead behind the hot shooting of Andre Machado (14 points) and seemed to have the game in hand. However, Run N Gun fired back behind the outside shooting of Zach Patchen (16 points), the slashing of Ethan Patchen (13 points) and a huge lift off the bench from Jared Hauge (19 points) mostly from outside. The Run N Gun team took a lead into the final minutes when Matt Bixby (22 points) connected on a few jumpers. Finally under 6 seconds left and Run N Gun leading by 1 Bixby lost the ball under the Run N Gun basket, but the ball found it's way into the hands of Jim Donnelly (17 points) who scored with 2 seconds left to give 2.0 Boys the win as Run N Gun's desperation heave went begging. Great game. Run N Gun falls to 2-3 and will face The Horsemen next week. While 2.0 Boys improve to (2-3) and will take on Swag.

El Equipo 86, Up-A-Ton 54
El Equipo went on a 26-4 run in the mid second half that opened this one up. Mo Horton had 22 points for the victors who boasted 4 men in double figures. Horton was joined by Dan Sweitzer (12 points), Jaylen Alicia (12 points) and Junior De La Hoz (13 points) in double figures. Up-A-Ton was paced by Dan Bessa with 15 and Lloyd Kennedy with 13. El Equipo will take on The Slammin Yambags next week, while Up-A-Ton will face up with the Birdmen.

Horsemen 62, Slammin' Yambags 60 (OT)
Zach Brown only had 9 points in the victory for the Horsemen but his last 2 were the most important as his reverse layup with under 10 seconds left won the game for the Horsemen. Ben McAuliffe had 20 in the victory and Shane Trudell had 23 points in the W. The 'Bags were paced by Mike O'Leary with 14 and Joe Laroche with 12. Bag Nation will take on El Equipo next week, as the Horsemen will dance with Run N Gun.

Blazers 74, Swag 44
The Blazers used a 22-4 run to open up a 8 point halftime lead into a blowout as Jeff Kozik (17 points), Rob Elliot (12 points) and Jay McKinney (14 points) shot it form outside and Zach Valliere had 16 down low. Swag was paced by Cale Lacasse with 12 points and Bill Marlow with 13. Jon Snediker added 11 from outside. Swag will take on 2.0 Boys next week, while The Blazers have a bye.

Player of The Week: Shane Trudell, Horsemen, Made shots to keep them in the game in the second half, and lead them to a contested overtime victory over the Yambags.

Birdmen 64, Vin Baker's Dozen 53
The Birdmen held off Vin Baker's Dozen in the early game in the shining and glimmering BVT gym. Nefali Gonzalez paced the Birds with 20, while Sam Fanfan added 19. Jeremy Bridge gave them a lift on the glass as well. As for the VB12 squad: Ryan Cain lead the way with 21 while Jeff Lindgren chipped in 11. The Birdmen improve to 3-2 with a bye week looming, while the 5-1 Dozen will have the double bye.

El Equipo 75, Horsemen 68
Two very talented and balanced offensive attacks met in the next game as El Equipo edged the Horsemen 75-68. Mo Horton lead El Equipo with 19, but was aided by Junior De La Hoz with 10, Dan Koen with 10 and Dan Sweitzer with 10. Meanwhile the Horsemen got a balanced attack as well with Mike Perrault leading the charge with 25, Shane Truddell adding 16 and Zach Brown tossing in 10. The Horsemen will return to action next week against The Slamin' Yambags in a battle of 2-2 teams while El Equipo will face Up-A-Ton in another battle of 2-2 teams.

2.0 Boys 66, Slammin Yambags 51
The new look 2.0 Boys are in the win column and trying to make a late playoff push. Lead by free agent acquisition Jim Donnelly (20 points) and Matt Bixby (14 points) the 2.0 boys extended a 1 point halftime lead to as much as 15 in the second half and took home the W. The Slammin' Yambags were lead by Joey Laroche wih 17 and Mike Consolmango with 14 in defeat. The (1-3) 2.0 Boys will face Run N Gun next week, while The Yambags (2-2) will meet The Horsemen.

Run N Gun 61, Swag 52
Run N Gun improved their record to 2-2 with a victory over Swag. Zach Patchen was the story in this one has he knocked down 8 threes on way to a 30 point outburst. Harley Patchen added 11. Swag was paced by Ryan Stock with 18 and John Snediker with 12 and Chris Resker with 11. The (0-4) Swag squad will take on The Blazers next week. While (2-2) Run N Gun will play the 2.0 Boys.

Blazers 69, Up-A-Ton 50
The Blazers are the league's hottest team running off their 3rd straight win behind the scoring of Jeff Kozick (21 points) and Jay McKinney (24 points), Rob Elliot added 13 for the victors. The Up-A-Ton contingent was lead by (36 Year Old Grown Ass Man) Ernie Bertulli with 16 points, and the passing of new pickup Will McCoy. Steve Dorsey added 11 as well mostly from downtown. Up-A-Ton (2-2) will play El Equipo next week, while The Blazers (3-2) will face Swag.

Players Of The Week: Zach Patchen, Run N Gun, 30 points in a hotly contested win over Swag. This is Patchen's first POTW award this year.

Jim Donnelly, 2.0 Boys, 20 points and directed traffic in a hard fought win over the Slammin' Yambags.

Birdmen 68, 2.0 Boys 64
A hard fought battle between the Birdmen and the new look 2.0 Boys ended with a 4 point Birdmen victory. Sam Fanfan (18 points) and newcomer Marvin Amaning (13 points) lead the way for the Birdmen who also got a huge lift from Andy Maxwell with 10 off the bench. The 2.0 Boys debuted their new point guard one Jim Donnelly (a fan favorite in the BVBL) and utilized great balance to stay in the game with Anthony McDonald registering 18, Deco Anderson 14 and Matty Bixby 14. The Birdmen will return to action next week against Vin Baker's Dozen while The 2.0 Boys will tangle with The Slammin Yambags.

Slammin Yambags 50, Run N Gun 35
In the battle of the Dziczek brothers Mike and the Yambags came out on top. Mike Dziczek posted 12 points, while Dave Douliette added 11 and Joe Laroche 11 in the Yambag victory. The Run N Gun contingent (and their legions of fans) were lead by Zach Patchen's 15 all from longrange. The Yambag Boys will return to action next week against 2.0, while Run N Gun will square off with Swag.

Horsemen 67, Swag 50
The Horsemen are starting to hit their stride. Mike Perrault lead the way with 17, while Zach Brown added 15 and Raheem Lewis and Shane Truddell (the honaray 3rd ref of every game he plays in) added 13 each. The Horsemen also got a great lift on the boards from Steve Colorio. Swag was lead by the slashing of Cale Lacasse (23 points) and the shooting of Jon Snediker (10 points). The Horsemen will play El Equipo next week while see Run N Gun.

Vin Baker's Dozen 76, Up-A-Ton 59
Up-A-Ton came out of the 2nd half on a strong run but Vin Baker's Dozen had too many shooters and namely too much Ryan Cain on this evening. Cain posted 30 points for the victors, while Jeff Robinson chipped in 15, and Mike Balderelli, Jeff Lindgren and Keenan Burke-Pitts kept the defense honest from beyond the arc. Rookie sensation Ernie Bertulli had 20 in the loss, while Colin Carr added 16 and Lloyd Kennedy 11. VB12 will take on the Birdmen next week, while Up-A-Ton will see the Blazers.

Blazers 78, El Equipo 63
El Equipo rolled into the half with a 37-29 lead, but The Blazers started the second half on a 24-5 run and never looked back as they posted their second straight victory. The Blazers were lead by the floor play of Jeff Kozik (28 points) and the hot shooting of Rob Elliot (26 points) and got notable contributions from Mike Howe (9 points) and Jay McKinney (10 points). El Equipo was lead by Mo Horton (18 points with 1 arm, seriously), and Chris Pinsonault with 15. El Equipo will tangle with the Horsemen next week, while The Blazers will see Up-A-Ton

Player of the week: Jeff Kozik Blazers Back to back awards for Kozik as his 28 point outburst lead them to another hard fought victory.

Horsemen 78, Birdmen 66

The Horsemen ended their brief 1 game losing streak with a 78 to 66 victory over the Birdmen in a rematch of the Fall Session championship. Mike Perrault lead the hot shooting Horsemen with 26 points while Shane Trudell chipped in 18 and Ben McAuliffe had 19. The Birdmen were paced by Nefali Gonzalez with 20 and Jeremy Bridge with 10, while Sam Fanfan added 11. The Birdmen will face the 2.0 Boys when the league returns from Super Bowl Break while The Horsemen will tangle with Swag.

Vin Baker's Dozen 75, El Equipo 71

Jeff Robinson's 27 points lead Vin Baker's Dozen to a victory over El Equipo. Ryan Cain had 20 for the victors while Mike Balderelli tossed in 17. El Equipo was playing without scoring sensation Mo Horton and postman Jesus Trejo but gamely fought lead by Chris Pinsonault with 19 points and Danny Koen with 17. El Equipo will return to action against The Blazers after the Super Bowl, while VB12 still had another game on this night.

Vin Baker's Dozen 61, 2.0 Boys 52

The 2.0 Boys ran out to a 9-2 lead thanks to Andre Machado (22 points) and Deco Anderson (8 points) but from that point on it was all Vin Baker's Dozen as Jeff Robinson (17 points), Ryan Cain (16 points) and Mike Balderelli (13 points) were all kept involved by the heady point guard play of Keenan Burke-Pitts. Vin Baker's Dozen will tangle with Up-A-Ton in a battle of unbeatens after the super bowl while the 2.0 Boys will dance with the Birdmen.

Up-A-Ton 56, Swag 35

Up-A-Ton posted their second win on the young season behind the balanced attack of Lloyd Kennedy (11 points), Ernie Bertulli (10 points) and Tom Casey (9 points). This defensive struggle was won with a 12-2 run to start the second half. Swag was lead by Cale Lacasse and Jon Snediker with 9 respectivley. Up-A-Ton will take on Vin Baker's Dozen upon the return from the Super Bowl and Swag will play The Horsemen.

Blazers 73, Slammin' Yambags 71

The big news of the day was Worcester West changing their name to the Slammin' Yambags apperently. "We're excited about the new direction our franchise is taking" said Dave Douilette while Joe Laroche jumped over things in the background. On to the game...The Blazers were lead by a grown man performance from Jeff Kozik with 25 points and a lot of rebounds from the guard postion, while Rob Elliot added 23. The Artists Formerly Known as Worcester West were paced by Dave Douliette with 19 and Joe Laroche with 17 while Nick Diblasi (The Million Dollar Man) had 8. The Yambags will take on Run N Gun in the battle of the Dzciek brothers next week after the big game and The Blazers will play El Equipo.

Player of the Week: Jeff Kozik, Blazers. 25 points in a hard fought victory over the Slammin' Yambags.

Birdmen 61, Run N Gun 58

Sam Fanfan's 18 points and Nefali Gonzalez's 17 points lead the Birdmen to their first victory of the young season. Niko Bryant also chipped in 12 in the victory. Run N Gun used outside shooting and offensive balance to hang tight lead by Zach Patchen (16 points) and Ethan Patchen (13 points) and the inside play of Matt Dzciek with 14. Run N Gun will be off next week as they head for Las Vegas (most of them from what I understand), however The Birdmen will play the Horsemen next week.

Vin Baker's Dozen 72, Blazers 65

Jeff Robinson welcomed himself to the BVBL with 33 points for Vin Baker's Dozen. Keenan Burke-Pitts played the roll of wingman with 20 of his own. Justin Aldrich chipped in 13 in the win. For the Blazers Rob Elliot did 21 points of damage mostly from downtown and Chris Bailey kicked in 17 for the Blazers in defeat. The Blazers will tangle with Worcester West next week, while Vin Baker's Dozen will have a twin bill featuring El Equipo as well as the 2.0 Boys.

1/15 Results

El Equipo 75, Birdmen 63

El Equipo welcomed themselves to the BVBL-W with a win in their debut. Mo Horton paced them in victory with 23 points, while Chris Pinsonault added 16 and Jesus Trejo chipped in 13 on the low block. The Birdmen were paced in defeat by Sam Fanfan with 20 and Nefali Gonzalez with 16.

Slammin Yambags 74, Swag 47

Worcester West returned for the winter session and hung a W behind the scoring of Mike Consolmango with 18 points and Dave Douliette with 16 points. Jim Quinilven added 15 for the victors. On the other side of the ledger Swag was paced by Chris Resker with 12 (and a first rate beard) and Jon Snediker with 14.

Vin Baker's Dozen 57, Horsemen 47

In an ugly game where neither team could really get going offensively the aptly named Vin Baker's Dozen held on for a 10 point win over the Horsemen. The Horsemen were lead in the loss by Mike Perrault with 18 points and Shane Truddell with 13. The Baker Boys were lead by Ryan Cain with 32 points and Justin Aldrich chipped in 10.

Up-A-Ton 62, 2.0 Boys 56,

Newcomers Lloyd Kennedy (16 points) and Ernie Bertulli (21 points) lead Up-A-Ton to victory over the 2.0 Boys. Colin Carr added 11 in the victory. The 2.0 Boys were lead by Anthony McDonald with 20 and Matt Davis with 15. Andre Machado added 10.

Run N Gun 55, Blazers 48

Ethan Patchen (17 points) lead the Run N Gun squad to their first victory in their first BVBL game...Zach and Harley Patchen each added 9 in the victory. While Matt Dzciek added 7 proving that not all team members were named Patchen...meanwhile Jay McKinney dialed long distance early and often for The Blazers tossing in 22 while Jeff Kozik added 12.

Player of the Week: Mo Horton, El Equipo, 23 points in your debut victory is a solid day's work.
